Pieces of Me

Since I started this blog, I've toyed with the idea of sharing my "non-blog" related writing on here. I tend to vacillate back and forth between putting my work on my blog and simply keeping the two writing worlds separate. Not because I'm averse to criticism, but simply because it's a bit unnerving. I really am touchy about sharing works-in-progress with anybody, for that matter. I was talking to a registered storyteller and museum educator the other day. Every now and again, she will ask for my help to fine-tune her grant proposals and scripts for new characters. I was also asked by someone else, if they could use some of my work to read at an audition. I find it flattering that people think enough of my writing prowess to utilize me. Needless to say, I relayed to said museum educator, that I was flipping through some of my works-in-progess, and dusted off a short manuscript from college. It was my final project, a compilation of works, for my creative writing workshop. The English professor told me then, that he'd like to see me do something further with one story in particular, "The Uprising." I have been gnawing away at the uprising for years. It was completed as a rough draft in 1999, and I chip away at it every now and again. The historical research became a bit time consuming, and I put it on the back burner indefinitely. I told the M.E. the specifics of the story, she said she could read it, check it for historical accuracy, and said she would love to utilize aspects of my manuscript for her character(s)! I've decided to go ahead and put excerpts of The Uprising on my blog. In doing so, perhaps I can comb through the tangles and gain constructive feed back in the process... that or an offer to publish it as a short novella, tee hee. Anyway, look for that excerpt (and others), to be posted very very soon. This New Year, I want to be more consistent with my creative projects. I'm a little nervous about doing this but, I have a forum, I may as well make productive use of it. With newly gained fervor, I want to push myself even further in my creativity.

LOL! Well, they say you need experience to get the job, so what a better way to start as an agent, Right Amadeo? (chuckle) (JK)

Just a word of caution, Coffee, there will always be critics out there.. I know quite a few people commented on the chain maille armor I knit.. Most favorable, but there have been quite a few Unfavorable. (some like 'total amature', which I admit right up front right back to them. (okay, a 25-yr amature.) I never said my works were 1st quality.. More like test-runs in progress.)

(for a look at this nut, Amadeo, look-up 'busdriver1928' on Yahoo,
and see the armor in the photo album.)

I for one, would love to read some of your works, Coffee! You never know, until you put it out into the open, wether it is good, or not, if you keep it all to yourself.
